I didn’t plan to write this article now, but my shoulder tendonitis did. For the past 10 days, I’ve been experiencing intense pain; my right hand stopped moving, and every tiny motion felt like a challenge. I couldn’t grab my mouse or even type properly, and I didn’t have the energy to get involved with anything.
This pain made me stop and reevaluate my habits. It reminded me to practice Reiki daily, something I had neglected for a while—and made me reconnect with my valuable books (check out the recommendations at the end). The pain forced me to slow down, listen to my body, and reassess my practices—things I hadn’t prioritized until now.
What if pain was more than just a physical sensation?
What if it carries a message, urging us to pay attention to something deeper?
How does it affect our mindset?
What does it reveal about our emotional and energetic state?
And most importantly, how can we work with pain instead of fighting against it?
Pain is not just about physical recovery; it’s about reconnecting with the deeper personal truths that underlie its existence. Pain is an inevitable part of life, it disrupts our routine, shifts our focus, and forces us to slow down.
What Is Your Body Storing?
The body has an incredible ability to store unresolved emotions, past traumas, and even suppressed thoughts.
That’s why pain carries emotional and energetic weight.
Have you ever noticed that pain appears when you are stressed or emotionally overwhelmed?
Do certain types of pain return when you go through similar situations in life?
Could your pain be a sign that something needs attention—physically, emotionally, or spiritually?
In energy healing, different parts of the body are believed to store different emotions. For example,
🔸Shoulders: Carrying the weight of responsibility, fear of failure.
🔸Lower back: Financial stress, fear of not being supported.
🔸Knees: Pride, inflexibility, fear of moving forward.
🔸Neck: Suppressed emotions, inability to speak your truth.
🔸Stomach: Anxiety, fear of uncertainty or lack of control.
🔸Hips: Fear of change, difficulty letting go.
🔸Hands: Lack of self-worth, difficulty receiving or giving.
🔸Feet: Feeling stuck, unable to move forward in life.
🔸Jaw: Repressed anger, difficulty expressing yourself.
🔸Chest: Grief, emotional burden, difficulty opening up.
The body may be asking us to let go, delegate, or simply acknowledge the weight we are holding.
How Pain Affects the Mindset and Causes Low Vibrations
Pain can lower our emotional and energetic state. When we’re in pain, our thoughts shift, and it’s easier to feel stuck, unmotivated, or even hopeless. Just like life’s setbacks can make us question everything, physical discomfort can cloud our perspective.
🔹Pain makes small tasks feel overwhelming, creating a sense of mental fatigue.
🔹It can trigger negative emotions, such as frustration, sadness, or even self-doubt.
🔹Over time, pain can lead to a loop of inactivity, making it harder to regain energy and motivation.
🔹We may feel powerless or out of control.
The key is to acknowledge these feelings without letting them take over.
Recognizing that pain is temporary and that our energy can shift is the first step to regaining control. While pain often forces a pause, it's important to see this as a moment of reflection rather than a stop sign.
In these moments of stillness, doubts may arise—questions like, “What if I can’t recover?” or “What if this is my new normal?”
These thoughts can easily spiral, but they don’t define our journey. Instead, we can view them as a reminder to be patient with ourselves and trust that healing unfolds in its time.
Even if we move slower, we are still moving forward.
The Value of Routine
When pain appears, somehow, we cherish the daily routine and only then do we feel grateful for having one. When we’re not in pain, it’s easy to take routines for granted. We don’t realize how much they keep us grounded, active, and on track until something like pain forces us to slow down.
Our routines give us a sense of purpose, stability, and direction. They help us feel leading our day, but when pain comes, we suddenly see the gaps in how we’ve been caring for ourselves.
That simple cup of morning coffee, the walk in the park, or the evening stretch—those little things we often rush through without thinking—become more precious.
In those moments of limitation, we can realize just how important they are in shaping our overall well-being.
Why ‘Tomorrow’ is Never a Guarantee
How often do we say, “I’ll do it tomorrow”?
We assume we will have more time, energy, or motivation later. But life happens. Unexpected events, challenges, and pain can arise. The truth is, we don’t control tomorrow—we only have right now.
Pain is a strong reminder of this. If something matters, we should do it today, even in a small way. If we wait for perfect conditions, we might never begin.
Ask yourself:
What have I been postponing because I thought I had more time?
What can I do right now, even in a small way, to move forward?
The reality is that every little effort counts. And when pain enters the picture, we learn to appreciate even the smallest victories.
Pain as a Teacher
Pain is never easy. It challenges us physically, mentally, and emotionally. But if we take a step back, we might see that pain is also a teacher. It asks us to:
✔️ Slow down and listen.
✔️ Take care of ourselves in ways we’ve ignored.
✔️ Stay present.
✔️ Reframe setbacks as part of growth.
✔️ Get to know the cause, which leads to self-awareness.
Healing is not just about getting rid of pain; it’s about understanding what it’s telling us.
The body speaks, and when we listen, we gain wisdom.

Guided Meditation: Becoming the Pain
This guided meditation helped me approach my pain with curiosity and openness. Instead of resisting discomfort, I allowed myself to be present with it—listening to the more profound messages it held. This shift in perspective led to valuable insights and a greater understanding of what my body was trying to tell me.
Try it and see how it shifts your perspective on pain.
Please note that the purpose of this article is to explore the deeper, often hidden messages that pain can reveal about our emotional, mental, and energetic state. While we recognize that chronic pain and severe illnesses are real medical conditions requiring professional care, this article is not intended as a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. The insights shared here are based on holistic perspectives and energy healing practices, meant to inspire reflection and personal growth only.
In my personal experience, I am actively managing every pain with a combination of conventional and alternative approaches. I have visited my orthopedic doctor, received an injection, and am I taking anti-inflammatory medication. Additionally, I am undergoing physiotherapy alongside my personal energy healing practices, such as Reiki. I encourage everyone to seek professional advice first and, afterward, find the alternative energy healing method that works best for them.
