“Nothing ever seems impossible in spring, you know.”
Lucy Maud Montgomery
It’s that time of year when focus feels impossible, when all you want is to be outside, and when your sleep is all over the place—one minute you’re too hot, the next too cold. But it’s not Spring’s fault. It’s likely your circadian rhythm… adjusting to the season.
Our circadian rhythm is a 24-hour internal cycle that regulates sleep, digestion, and hormones, and it thrives on consistency. Sunlight plays a crucial role in keeping it in sync. But when we ignore its natural rhythm it throws everything off.
This happens to me every Spring. It’s totally normal. Nature’s rhythms shift, and so do ours.
We just need to adjust and replace winter habits with spring habits.
Spring isn’t just a season; it’s a shift in energy. Just as nature awakens, it’s our chance for renewal. Spring empowers us to transform, shedding the old and embracing the new.
Maybe that’s why it's my favorite season—even more than summer! Despite my circadian rhythm going haywire, I feel empowered by the energy of this time.
Change can be messy, but it’s necessary.
Like flowers blooming in their own time, we can approach the season with curiosity and openness.
Whether we’re hoping to get in shape, spend more time outdoors, or learn something new, now is the time to set the stage … before summer hits us with vacation daydreams.
Declutter… but not just your home
For many of us, spring is the time to declutter our homes. It is a refreshing process that can make your space feel more calming and inviting, while also giving you a sense of accomplishment.
But it’s not just about tidying up your physical environment. Spring is an opportunity to clear mental clutter too. Take a moment to evaluate the mental space you're occupying—your negative self-talk, and anything that holds you back from embracing new possibilities. By consciously decluttering your mind, you create room for growth, creativity, and a more peaceful mindset.
Your body also deserves a reset. Spring invites us to cleanse and rejuvenate. Start by listening to your body’s needs, whether it's moving more, or simply allowing time for rest.
Just as you’d clear out your closets, give yourself permission to release habits that no longer serve you.
This holistic approach to decluttering—mind, body, and home—supports our overall well-being, creating balance and a renewed sense of vitality.
The Vernal Equinox approaching
In Greek mythology, Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, returns to Earth on this day after spending months in the underworld. Her return signals the rebirth of nature, reminding us that renewal follows the darker seasons of life. Persephone’s story symbolizes transformation and growth, much like our own journeys.
The myth of Persephone also speaks of the cycle of life—from non-existence to blossoming, fruiting, and spiritual ascension. The pomegranate she carries is a symbol of abundance, fertility, and healing—bringing light, joy, and fertility to the world.
Persephone’s journey between the underworld and the Earth represents the soul’s evolution, constantly shifting between light and dark, material and spiritual, growth and renewal.
This allegory calls us to embrace the constant changes of life and the balance between opposites that shape our experiences.
This year, the Vernal Equinox falls on March 20th in the Northern Hemisphere. Mark your calendar and join in the festivities—many cities, like Athens, have tons of events celebrating this special day. I hope there are some in your city too!
